fated to pretend

Sorry, I'm a sucky blogger. I just went to the MGMT concert though, so I wanted to share my outfit!

I love my new tribal-patterned skirt. I've been wanted one for a while. The whole ensemble is from Forever 21 (of course). I'm starting to think THEY should pay ME..

Anyway, MGMT put on an awesome show, and I love their new album. Also, Andrew VanWyngarden is total hotness. I want to have his children.

Hotness.

Happy summer everyone! I go to London in 3 weeks :)

shines like the real thing, real thing

I got a ton of new CDs from a friend who works as Sony rep, so I've had a lot of new music to listen to which is cool. I'm still really busy with school and my internship, but that doesn't mean I'm slacking on the outfits! Although it does mean I'm slacking on the posts... alas.

When I wore this outfit, I guy outside my apartment building said I looked "fresh". To me that means this outfit was pretty much a success, haha.

urban cowgirl.. kind of

I haven't posted in so long, I apologize! I've been really busy lately with classes, clubs, and an internship I just got so I haven't had a spare moment to post or take any pictures. But alas, today I decided to find the time.

This outfit was inspired by a spread in the May issue of Elle. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it on me, but it was a spread with a lot of peasant skirts, pale pastels and whites paired with denim jackets and boots. I was going to wear my denim jacket but it doesn't really flatter me all that much.. so I went with this option instead.

slum goddess

Hey everyone.
I'm watching 16 & Pregnant. This show gives me high self esteem. Anyway, here's an outfit I wore recently:

Not sure why, but I think of Suze Rotolo when I look at this dress.

She's beautiful. A Freewheelin' Time is a good book. If you're an absolute insane person about Bob Dylan, it's a really good book!

the parents are enforcing the law

Sorry about the lack of updates, I had finals and then spring break so I've been pretty busy! I'm starting a new quarter at school and it's finally warm outside, so things are looking up! Good mood + good weather = fun outfits.

I love mixing black and brown. It's pretty much the best rule to break in my opinion.

After listing that I always feel like an ad for Forever 21. They should really pay me at this point; the amount of clothing I own from there is ridiculous. However, here's a touch of originality that actually isn't from Forerver 21!

The thick middle bracelet was a birthday present from my lovely mother :) She found it at an antique store, apparently it's a Siam-inspired/crafted bracelet. Anyway, it's really unique and beautiful, I'm so glad she got it for me.

empty file cabinet

I wore this outfit to my friend's 21st birthday party this past Saturday. I'm slightly embarrassed to say it was inspired by Ke$ha in her video "Tik Tok"... I'm obsessed with that song unfortunately.. it offends my musical sensibilities but alas it cannot be helped! Plus she mentions Mick Jagger in the song, so I'll take that as a redeeming quality.

This last pose here was not what I expected it to be when I took it. I come off looking a lot more self-satisfied than I actually am, I assure you.

I sold my voice

I wore this for a St. Patrick's Day themed party. Great fun! I took a lot of pictures of this outfit for some reason.. I think it was the skirt. I love this skirt and I never get to wear it. Last time was New Year's Eve, so I was definitely ready to pair it with something totally different!

I really hate the myspace vibe of these pictures, haha. I feel like such an angsty teen. However, until I get a better camera or a tripod of some sort, this will have to do.

I love the back of this dress (which I wore as a top). Sadly my long hair tends to hide the back detail.

OUTfit

I wore this out Friday night. Pretty casual for me, but I still felt sleek and fabulous, haha.

You can kind of see my recent purchase from Urban Outfitters peeking out of the side of my top. I love the little glimpse of lace!

ain't got nothing at all

I'm braving the snow and the cold today and wearing a dress. Hurrah!

You can't really tell from the pictures, but I dyed my hair once again. It's sort of a really dark, almost maroon-ish red. Not exactly what I was going for, but it's temporary and I'm getting used to it.

Dress: F21, Cardigan: F21, Boots: Charlotte Russe

My dad got me this cardigan for Christmas. He has surprisingly good taste for a man who's wardrobe consists of 25 year old motorcycle T-shirts!

speak little nightingale

It's been a casual week for me, which pains me so. However, it's given me a chance to shop my own closet, which is always fun!

I've had this blazer for a year or two (from F21, of course) and I sort of forgot about it for a while, but when I wore it today I remembered exactly why I bought it! I love the stripes and it fits me exactly the way I want it to, which is always satisfying.

On a side note, I just bought this little bra-thingy from Urban Outfitters and I love love LOVE it! It reminded me so much of Edie I just had to buy it. I'm not sure how I'm going to wear it yet, but when I figure it out there will be pictures

To everyone going to Fashion Week: have a fantastic time! I wish I could be there :( Alas, one day...

the sailor boys have demons

Sorry about the lack of updates; it's been so unbelievably cold outside that I haven't been able to get too creative! We had a giant snowstorm over the weekend, which quite frankly hindered my style. Stupid weather, what were you thinking?

Pants: H&M, Shirt: H&M, Cardigan: Express

Nothing like my cheap, all-purpose over-the-knee boots! They go with everything.

I've been layering necklaces a lot lately, which I think is a fun look.
Locket: J. Crew, Cameo: Vintage, Gold Scarab Beetle bracelet: vintage, Black bracelet: old gift!

And my everlasting inspiration....

mirror

Sadly I spent most of my day watching Top Model re-runs, loving to hate Tyra, then struggling to hate her, then accepting her for who she is: a charitable narcissist. Anyway, here's my outfit :)

I watched Factory Girl again, so I have definitely been very inspired to wear crazy Edie makeup at any possible opportunity.
Jacket: Vintage (my mom's), Dress: F21

You know, instead of recommending one song, I'm just going to go ahead and tell you to listen to the entire Velvet Underground collection. Or as much as you can. They pretty much rule. I realize that more and more each day.

ready to wear

Got bored, so I checked out some of the ready-to-wear spring 2010 lines. I have to say, I'm LOVING Alice + Olivia. So cute. Check it out:

I LOVE these pants. I wish I could find them in a much cheaper version. I'd wear them in a heartbeat.

a damsel with a dulcimer

Just got out of my English class, hence the literary reference in my title. I have really grown to like Kubla Khan by Samuel Coleridge. Fascinating imagery. Anyway, here's my outfit for today.

Ignore the ridiculous expression on my face. I clearly have much to learn from Tyra.

(Top: F21, Shorts: F21, Headband: J.Crew, Boots: Charlotte Russe)

As you can just barely see, I recently got my nose pierced! It didn't really hurt all that much but the 45 minute wait was almost more than I could stand. I had to endure sweaty palms and ultimately a fainting episode. Good times. So far, however, I'm really happy with it :)
